Resident-Reporters
In February 2020, we were gearing up to launch version one of our community storytelling lab. We planned for an in-person experience but due to COVID-19, that could not happen. Although life as we knew it shifted to all things virtual, our founding group of resident-reporters attended virtual training sessions on news-gathering and interviewing skills with WBGO’s News Director, Doug Doyle and had conversations with Newark residents about their experiences during the coronavirus pandemic. Thank you to Jessica Laus, Amaris Mitchell, Rachelle Pittman, and Jodey Anthony for contributing to our founding cohort and centering the stories of your neighbors and friends. Thank you to the neighbors and friends who generously shared their experiences during such a difficult time.

Clinton Hill Community A.C.T.I.O.N
Clinton Hill Community Action is a community development corporation, founded in 2019, to revitalize the neighborhood and improve the quality of life of its residents. The organization takes cues from residents in setting priorities, understanding the issues, and working together toward solutions. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Newark, NJ, Clinton Hill Community A.C.T.I.O.N, LISC-Newark, and many other local organizations came together to implement block level food pantries distributing to 300 Newark residents weekly between June - August 2020.
Listen below to block pantry hosts share their experiences supporting their neighbors during the coronavirus pandemic.
